Spurn Point from a different angle

Here is a selection of photographs that show Spurn Point from the sea/river.

The long pontoon that the Lifeboat men have to get down to get to the Lifeboat!

Both Me and Heidi have become shore crew so we are able to drive the RNLI Land Rover. This is especially important when the road has been washed away or covered in sand. It gives us the ability to get on and off of the point, or to pick the children up from their school bus. This is very useful when the men are out on a shout or busy. Just last week we got high tides that covered the road in sand again, so we were quickly able to use our newly learnt driving skills!

Me driving the 4x4 to the end of the point.

A belated Happy New Year!

Okay, I know I have not started this year too well with keeping the blog up to date, but I have been distracted with wedding plans and making the wedding invitations! The invitations are now completed and mostly sent out so I can try to catch up a little bit on here.
On New Year's Eve we had friends Faye and Jamie staying with us, with 3 year old Finley and baby Jakob. In the afternoon we decided to go for a walk on the beach. It was a gorgeous bright afternoon and the sun was beginning to set, casting a wonderful golden glow over Spurn Point.

Jamie and Pete walking ahead.

Beautiful!

After our walk on the beach, we got ready to party in the New Year with all of our neighbours at Dave and Karen's house party. It just worked out that it was Pete's weekend off, so he was able to have a few drinks. Infact, he seemed to be enjoying the champagne as the clock struck midnight. It was a lovely evening that everyone enjoyed and a great start to the new year. We have a very exciting year ahead of us! Only a few months until the big day...!

On New Year's Day we went for another lovely walk on the beach. I think our visitors enjoyed their stay and didn't really want to leave, especially 3 year old Finley who has made lots of friends here!

We were coming to the end of our walk when the pagers went off and the bells sounded: a shout. Pete and Jamie were off in seconds and were gone until after the sun had gone down. So we had a lovely chilled afternoon, watching Christmas films and drinking hot chocolate. A wonderful weekend to bring in the year 2012, and what a year it's going to be :)
